The answer to childhood obesity? Ayurveda! Statins NOT I could not believe my eyes when I read in The New York Times that the American Academy of Pediatrics has issued new guidelines to "aggressively screen and treat high cholesterol in children" and they have the intention to the administration of anti-cholesterol drugs - called statins - to kids as young as 8 years! 8 years!
WHAT'S NEXT - PUTTING your newborn antidepressants, because he does not smile enough??
But before going into details, let me remind you of simple facts about cholesterol ...
Do not blame cholesterol a crime he did not commit!
In April, I posted an article that dispelled the myths about cholesterol, so let me reiterate a few things: in Ayurveda, there are no "bad" and "good" cholesterol - all good. High cholesterol is the informant, a warning sign that something is wrong with your body - not the criminal. Do not blame the cholesterol!
The use of cholesterol-lowering drugs (statins, also known as Lipitor - Pfizer Pravachol - Bristol Myers Squibb and Lescol - Novartis) rose 156% (from 15.8 million to 29.7 million people) between 2000 and 2005. Spending on these drugs catapulted from $ 7.7 billion to 19.7 billion, and prescriptions have increased by about 90 million to nearly 174 million during the same period.
In 2004, the Government of the United States National Cholesterol Education Program advised those at risk of heart disease to reduce their LDL ("bad") cholesterol levels ridiculously low of less than 100 (or 70). If you want to meet these objectives is dangerously low, you usually have to take multiple statins in combination.
Large companies should not dictate how we treat ourselves or our children in particular, and statins are not the solution to the "problem" with cholesterol. Do not just take my word for it. Dr. Joseph Mercola, DO, (www.mercola.com) voted against the use of statins for children.
"I find it particularly encouraging that these drugs are as safe for children as for adults, since they are very dangerous for adults to begin with," Dr. Mercola notes in his article "Now they want to treat children with the statins.
Dr. Mercola also lists some of the known dangers of statins (Crestor and other statins: They are worth the risk? "), Including:" increasing the potential of liver enzymes ... muscle pain, weakness, immune system suppression, increased risk of cancer and a serious degenerative muscle tissue called rhabdomyolysis.
Our children deserve better!
Hugs (and Ayurveda) Not drugs: the weight and treat disorders of childhood obesity and the SAFE in a non-toxic ...
Choosing the right labels: Vata, Pitta, Kapha or - NOT "fat" or "Lazy" ...
May the force (of Ayurveda) Be YouCHILDHOOD obesity can be managed and cured by Ayurveda
There are three main types of digestive imbalances and trends by type of body of the child:
1. "Visnagni" - characterized by irregular appetite, hyper stomach and intestines. A child with a stomach "nervous" will have problems with indigestion, nausea, stomach pain and may want to eat at odd hours . Johnny or Susie's stomach pain and refusal to eat for hours at a time can be an indicator of a type body Visnagni tract. So is their emotional stress, fear, anxiety and insomnia. In severe cases, they may even have dark circles around the eyes. Is not the recipe for a happy child, balanced!
2. "Tiksnagni" - or an acid stomach. If Johnny or Susie is grumpy when they are not fed on time, or if they have a skin hot and red, there is nothing improper digestive fire of the child. Instead, they may be agitated because the stomach acids overcooks food, ca.
