Best treatment for anxiety depression / and drugs? People with personal experience only please. What do you think is the best treatment for depression or anxiety?
What do you think is the best medicine to treat depression or anxiety?
I have others on Lexapro for anxiety, it removes almost all your physical concerns. However, for depression, I'm not sure yet, I have been taking it for 4.5 weeks and have not really seen any improvement there, hope to wait it out until 6 -8 weeks though.
If anxiety and / or depression is debilitating, and drugs is a good option and was the best treatment for me (I suffered from anxiety and depression) - Lexapro worked great.
Remember though - what works for one person may not work for you, but it's worth watching.
These are two diff. afflictions
There is no way to calculate your needed drugs on the experience of others. Many different neurotransmitters and receptors involved in brain chemistry (serotonin, norepinephrine, dopamine, GABA, etc.) and problems are very different. What works fantastically for one person may do nothing for you, or have very serious side effects.
The only way to find the best medication is unfortunately trial and error until you find something that works for you.
I have Tourette's, comorbidity with depression, anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder, and have also been diagnosed BPD. I tried at least 20 drugs, so I can give you my experience, but it will not necessarily be the same for you.
SSRIs have no noticeable effect on me, they are like taking a placebo. Prozac is the only one that made a difference, and it did not help, it is making things worse by making me extremely irritable and moody. Lexapro no effect, showing that it works very well for some people but not for others.
Effexor worked well for depression, anxiety, but increased until I was panic attacks daily. This was countered by Remeron and Xanax (along with Zyprexa for Gilles de la Tourette), but the combination made me sleep all the time and make a lot of weight (over 30kg in less than six months, I had twice the time to lose after stopping the medication).
Wellbutrin has also worked for depression, along with Xanax for anxiety. It was the best combination for me, but unfortunately, Wellbutrin is a stimulant and exacerbated tics in Tourette's a very uncomfortable. Some people find it too raises anxiety.
Antipsychotic drugs are not worth it to me, if you suffer from insomnia or psychosis so severe that you can not work otherwise. They tend to make people feel like zombies, a lot of difficulty concentrating, sleeping almost all day, a lot of weight gain. I had to stop working and the university while taking them, because I could not do a complex task. A low dose of great works for some people, but personally I can not take them and continue to operate.
I tried various anti-anxiety drugs, and the only ones who make the difference are benzos. However, Valium did not work for me to worry, it only me very sleepy. Xanax has the best results, while allowing me to function.
I have not tried tricyclic antidepressants or MAOIs.
I think if the drugs to manage depression, treatment (I did the CBT and DBT) is the only real treatment that improves my anxiety. Xanax removes immediate attacks, but does not help long term.
One worked for me and has no dependence has been called Inderal. 10mg or 50mg doesn't matter. It was every 12 hours.
For me, the best treatment was Lexapro. He has contributed to both my panic attacks, generalized anxiety and depression that developed it. It really gave me my life. Side effects were more with after the first week or two, then I really started thinking about my old self. After about four weeks, I might start doing.
