The lens is the main part of the focusing mechanism of the human eye. The objective is clear and transparent and opaque becomes cloudy with age and thus impede normal vision. Any opacity in the lens, which leads to decreased vision is cataract.

Aging is the most common cause of cataracts. The proteins of the eye decreases with age, leading to cataract.
