I have a 10 year old race with a limp right leg forward, then I exclude shoulder Sweeny? I saved about 15 months earlier. The girl who had showed him and he was going to last over 3 'fences. He did very well. She said he had no injury. They said it was up lame on Christmas vacation, she had taken for a ride, no incidents, brought him back to the barn to put for the night and came and rolled back the next day and it was lame . This Lamesse went on and off a few months, the vet check him, took x-rays, treated with lime, different things. They could not fix it, if they are essentially left in his stall, do not worry, they clean each day. She was always trying to ride for another year or two. They did not put more money in him while they were far from giving. When I had asked him for X-rays the vet said they were damaged during a flood, which i doubt And he gave the owners the trouble to send me the files. I started from scratch, in my equine chiropractor work on him, his hips were out, which took four sessions to lay down but he was very happy with his progress. My foot farrier tested him said no problem, "he has good feet for a TB. My vet tested for lime and EPM, both of which were negative. flex test does lameness examination / and most of it was good shoes if the vet has recommended lifting stuck his heels. Did make some improvement in him. It is aniflex GL and has been for 12 months. His main box in the right shoulder forward is a foot. trot is fine, rare occasions, he has a limp at the trot. Cantering to the left is good, right, he gallops back and cons often tries to get out of work in this direction. He is eager to work and be mounted. I tried five days of Bute once a day and a good job at 35-40min. Bute did not help, if it is not pain related. Hopefully this is enough information to help clarify an idea what is wrong. I did everyting else that x-ray because it would be very expensive, it does come out 7-8 hours per day except for days of snow. Thank you
It appears that you have been thorough enough to try to isolate the problem. I worked with half thoroughbred my life as a pony girl and then assistant coach. I have not encountered such a problem in every year on the track. Most injuries are related leg or foot. The horses do ruematism and arthritus and Bute are not always effective as aspirin is not for us in many cases. Did you bite and proded his shoulder to see if he flinches at a particular location? It could perhaps be a muscle injury or ligamentous injuries do not heal with time on her own. I'm at a loss here that we have dealt with many forms of injuries in my race track and none have been like that. I had a pony lead app and EHV horse track had a slight limp behind this was not related stifle. Bute did not help either but he rode well and seemed out of it after driving for a while every time I shot him. Other than the massage area with a liniment, I can not think of anything else to do without going to expence.Sorry much, I can not be more helpful, the issue with the vet and xray the previous owner sounds fish for me and so I wonder what they showed. You could talk to your vet about a steroid shot, he was sure the problem is shoulder. Maybe it would help.
Thank you for the compliment, I wish I had more ideas for you. The idea of a small fracture at some point in his life is not unrealistic given that he may have had a racing career before it is used as a jumper. If this happens and it was constantly used, it may not have healed as it should. Report Abuse
This could cause permanent lameness may not undo the pain.
