Should I move to Portland from Canada? The weather is comparable to Vancouver (which is great), but without the rain. Housing prices are ridiculous compared to Van too. I could teach there after finishing school.
But I'm afraid to leave my cares behind free! Last September I had to go to hospital for an allergic reaction very bad and they covered everything. I saw an allergist one month later and had to pay a few $ 's for drugs that would otherwise be very expensive. It's really my main sticking point. Is health care in the U.S. that bad or is it just to be out of proportion by the media? On the positive side, the taxes are way lower, right? This should compensate dental care, eye care and visits to the doctor, I get free now, right?
Any other opinions on whether I should go / differences of someone who has lived in the two / two places?
You can not beat free care. There are many people here who would like to have free care. Beyond that, Oregon is a wonderful place to live. I can not imagine living anywhere else. I lived in Portland for 15 years and grew up in southern Oregon and I am ready to move, preferably to the coast. Try one of coastal cities to live in. Astoria, Seaside, Florence, Coos Bay are excellent places to start. Portland is a bit crowded, at least for me.
Yes, you should:]. Haha.
Health care is not too bad, at least for me ... I guess it varies for everyone. I was in hospital in December for about five days and ended up paying only about $ 2,000 because of my health insurance covered most of it. Here in Oregon, the best provider of health insurance is PacifiCare ... It is different for each state, but the best in the nation is BlueCross BlueShield.
