Eye Tests For Glaucoma

Eye Tests For GlaucomaDo eye exams appear normal if someone suffers from glaucoma?

Ok, first of all, my Nan has suffered from glaucoma when she was alive, I heard it was the hierarchy, but my father has never suffered.

I have regular eye checks, and too my knowledge, have never had a special test for glaucoma (if any).

I seem to suffer from symptoms simular to acute glaucoma, which can sometimes be described as a crack appears on my eye, and I feel dissymmetrical, dizzy and sick. I always thought it was good dehydrase.

When you go to your optician and tell them they should give you a free glaucoma check.

There is a test that will tell you if you suffer from glaucoma or at risk for it. The most common test is the breath of air "test to verify" intraocular pressure (intraocular pressure, IOP alias). The test of intraocular pressure does not tell you if you are at risk of glaucoma. To see if you have glaucoma, a specialist should examine the optic nerve.

If you have a family history of glaucoma, you should have your eyes examined regularly by a specialist glaucoma (usually an ophthalmologist). The frequency of inspection depends on your age, but if you've never had a special test for glaucoma, and go ahead with that now.

Acute glaucoma is different from common (primary open angle glaucoma). (Severe acute angle closure) glaucoma should be treated as a medical emergency. Your symptoms do not sound exactly as acute glaucoma, but given your family history, you should be checked by a specialist.

I recommend you ask the following tests:
1. check the intraocular pressure (eye pressure) with the Goldmann tonometer.
2. lamp examination, slit your optic nerve by the specialist

Optional tests:
3. photos showing your retina optic nerve (keep a copy for yourself)
4. check the intraocular pressure with the dynamic contour tonometer Pascal (preferably in graphic mode - a copy of the printed document)
5. GDx VCC examination of the optic nerve (a copy of the print)

Tests you can do at home:
Check your blood pressure at home with an electronic monitor BP in the middle of the night a few times over a period of several weeks or months (every time you wake in the night). Keep records. If your blood pressure drops dramatically while you sleep, tell your ophthalmologist.

If you suffer from glaucoma, you may consider self-tonometry
