The rent is generally cheaper than a monthly mortgage payment.
Sometimes this is not true. In many parts of the city of Detroit, for example, now your monthly mortgage could be the same.
More often than not, the rent is cheaper than paying the mortgage. Lower monthly payments, it is easier to save. If you're not a saver, it allows you to live in a bigger house or better than someone who pays off a mortgage more expensive.
Maintenance costs are less.
As a tenant, unless you are liable for damages, the landlord must pay for major repairs. As owner, you must pay the bill. For example, do you replace a furnace, is cheap? How about an air conditioner?
You have more time for yourself.

Anyone who refinance, however, will have to make this payment twice a year. If you "re not prepared, it can be a great success during these months, you have to pay for these taxes. A tenant should worry about spending a large part to cover this topic.
You do not know how to fix things.
While it is never a good idea to break things intentionally. In fact, you should do everything possible to avoid breaking things, especially things that do not belong to you.
