Where in New Jersey can I find the therapy on underwater treadmill for my dog? I have a beagle mix Basset / who has a torn ligament rupture and meniscal injuries ... recently undergone surgery. I think to try hydrotherapy ... underwater treadmill work for him. he has a thyroid problem is now about 67 pounds and stubborn to walk. I can not find any online links or information about where to take him. No matter where in New Jersey ... but I am in the County of Middlesex ... Oh, and how much it cost me?
and how long should I wait to start with treatment of water if he had surgery 10 days ago?
While the surgical incisions are closed / healed, I look in the aqua therapy for him ... he was walking on a treadmill aquatic few times a week, I suspect you can regain muscle function.
Here are some links to see -

There are 4 in New Jersey (one is the showcase with the pool), one in Delaware, several PA.
Of course, nothing is near Middlesex Co, but here goes ...
Clifton - http://www.valleyvetrehab.com/therapeuti ...
Red Bank - http://www.rbvh.net/services/physical.ht ...
Cherry Hill - .. http://www.petpt.com/index.html site leaves much to be desired .... as the services they offer, they can have a treadmill so, look at the brochure.
In PA -
Quakertown - http://www.pvah.com/anwell.html - not so far from New Jersey and an easy ride to 78
I think this type of rehabilitation would do wonders to build him the backup and most dogs will eventually walk in these things <g>. Good luck with your boy!
Unless you have a clinically important reference in the field, you'll probably have to go to a veterinary school to hydrotherapy. I know Tufts is in the Mass and the University of Penn. but it is probably far enough away to readers. Depending on location, many sessions range in price anywhere from 20 to $ 75. I would consult your surgeon about when they think you can start, but generally you can begin almost immediately after surgery with short sessions easy, just do not overdo it. Probably would not start on the treadmill immediately. The therapist will probably see the vet and develop a rehabilitation program specific to your dog.
