The goal of treatment is to remove all waste issues in the affected colon. These hardened accumulated wastes are considered the breeding ground for bad bacteria in the colon and the source of toxins. The proliferation of these micro-organisms and toxins can lead to self-poisoning and can cause a number of diseases that are not only limited to constipation, diarrhea and gas pains. Other symptoms include auto-intoxication, chronic headaches, fatigue, bad breath, skin problems, depression and anxiety. Thus, with the elimination of toxic waste through colon irrigation, the body is able to regain its natural vigor.

A person can either choose to perform the treatment of colon on its own by buying a kit home colon, or it may go into clinical colon hydrotherapy and let a professional therapist to work. There are two types of colonic machines that are commonly used today. Several existing colonic clinics may be employing one or both. Equipment of the closed-tube system, otherwise known as the closed system. The other is a system of open-basin, more commonly called open system.

With the closed system, water is allowed to flow into the colon through one of two pipes connected to a tube that is inserted into the rectum, called a speculum. The water pressure can be regulated so as not to inconvenience the patient and cause damage to the organ. The second hose is used to remove water and waste in the colon, pass through an illuminated glass viewing tube that lets you view waste disposal, and finally drains.

The system Open the other has a treatment table that has a high-basin which is connected directly to the sewer system. Water is introduced into the colon through the anus, using a small tube that is larger than a pencil. Water can also be regulated as such in the closed system. However, unlike the closed system, open system that encourages the natural elimination of water and waste.

Contrary to the impression most people are likely to hold regarding colonic irrigation, the procedure is not disorder or odor. In addition, patients do not have to worry about problems of decency, as both devices have been designed so that privacy and dignity are maintained at all times.
