I have a torn meniscus in the knee, has started physical therapy workouts to suggest? Ortho took the MRI, has decided to try physical therapy twice a week for a month. To return Nov. 11 with a probability of surgery. Therapist says I can still work on, just change the workouts. So now I'm on the bike, nothing more on the treadmill, elliptical trying. Anyone have a thought in addition to developing the strength that I am in therapy and at home now?
I agree, swimming is ideal for this type of rehab. You can also look at this device called Dynasplint rehabilitation. See the source below.
Swimming. Swimming. Pool ... It is a high gain, low-impact sport. You can walk "high steps" in the shallow end of the pool. Ask the physical therapist on a unit of "tens" as well. It is a small machine that hooks to electrodes that are placed around the lesion. It transmits electrical impulses to the muscles and just make them "work" without strain. (Do not wear in the pool, haha!) Good luck!
