Has anyone had surgery for a torn labrum in the shoulder? I'm just curious if anyone out there has had a torn labrum in the shoulder before the surgery and if they had to fix it. Did it help, ect ..
When my youngest son was in high school, he underwent surgery for a torn labrum, an injury in football. He then re-injured the shoulder playing football next year, and had another shoulder surgery to repair the labrum. His surgeon said it was unusual for a failure, but given its location to play football, it was understandable. It was 7 and 8 years and is now a firefighter and has no residual problems with the shoulder. Word of advice, if you are having surgery, DO THE REHAB. It is very important to regain normal operation.
I had the flaw in my shoulder and had surgery and it took a long time to heal. But there was only one blemish. And still had problems, then has another surgery and they have removed some of the bone and the healing time soon. Now its much better than when it first came out on me. I think many people have this problem and the surgery is minor and the recovery of 4 to 6 weeks. Thus, it depends on the actual damage you have. Hope this helps somehow!
