Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy (or Physical Therapy) is to restore strength and function of the structure and injured patients and to maximize the capabilities disabled. Physiotherapists employ exercises, light, heat, electricity, handling, water and other mechanical agents to restore the activity of an injured part of the body. Some physical therapists treat a wide variety of problems, others specialize in areas such as pediatrics, sports physiotherapy, neurology and cardio respiratory physiotherapy.
Training opportunities: medical rehabilitation and therapy as many courses are in the field of physiotherapy. To begin, this course is to be provided by the four apex institutions set up by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment: (a) All India Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, (2) National Institute of Training and Rehabilitation and Research, (3) National Institute of orthopedic disabilities and (4) Institute for the Physically Disabled.
Several medical schools and renowned medical universities also presented the program. Over the last five years or if a large number of institutions have emerged to offer this course. The total number of institutions now exceeds 100. Nearly 50% of these establishments are located in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. Although the duration of the training offered in the first degree with four apexes, is 3 ½ years (including 6 months internship), the course offered by all other institutions is 4 ½ years (including 6 month internship).

Although physical therapy has statutory authority under the Rehabilitation Council of India, it is still to exercise regulatory control over institutions offering courses. requisite qualification for admission in the first degree (Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT or BPhT) or B. Sc (Physiotherapy) is a pass of 10 +2 examination with biological science as one of the aggregate. Many agencies specify the minimum percentage of marks at all. Appendix 1 gives an indicative list of institutions offering courses in physiotherapy. Madhya Pradesh Bhoj (Open) University plans to introduce B. Sc (Hons) Physical Therapy course a period of three years by distance learning mode.
The only institution that offers a specialized curriculum is the first therapy Manipal Academy of Higher Education. He introduced the Bachelor of respiratory therapy and Technology (BRTT) to its College of Allied Health Sciences. Several institutions have set up degree courses (MSc Physiotherapy), MPhT or MPT) for a period of two years. Students are required to specialize in one area, such as, orghopaedics, neurology, cardio-respiratory physiotherapy, paediatrics, sports physiotherapy, the conditions of the hand. Diploma holders are admitted during BPhT. Annex 1 lists some of the institutions offering the course.
