It depends on the speed with which he caught. My boss has lasted nine months, but his was quite advanced and it was the nearest piece of his pancreas to his stomach.
My mother has surgery in December. It was on the back of his pancreas, they removed his spleen and most of the pancreas, but they said in January they did not recommend chemo or radiotherapy and they will check her every 3 months but are 98% sure they got everything.
