What schools offer a current physical therapist assistant education in the transition to a physiotherapist? I am currently an assistant physiotherapist and I want to know what schools can offer a program of promotion to a therapist. I have my associates degree in liberal arts for my assistant physical therapy profession, and also a Bachelor of Science from the man of my years in college (1986 graduates)
The only two official "bridge programs" are Findlay OH and Loma Linda, California. However, the "transition" is not as "transition" as it seems. Both programs have provisions that go beyond your qualifications required for entry of the PTA. I think two of them require that you meet the normal requirements for other PT programs and completion of a BS. If you do not have these classes in your BS, you will be asked to take these courses before applying the program. In addition, most schools require that you have taken the PreReqs. the past 5 years.
Also, I do not think there are fewer classes compared to a traditional program of PT, it's just that the bridge programs can do so on a part time basis.
I think that's why most of the EPA that I know who have made the transition, it has simply a program of traditional PT.
... Good luck to you.
