In an eye exam, which is "refraction"? The refraction is a vision test that determines the best visual acuity with glasses. It can be done with computer equipment, but usually an instrument called phoropter is used. The phoropter holds lenses that are placed in front of your eye. Looking at the list through the eye phoropter, the technician or doctor will adjust the lens until the picture looks as clear as possible.
