Back pain sciatica? Mt 89 yearold mother suffered from sciatic pain since the beginning of May She can not tolerate opioid drugs - nausea and vomiting causes. She has had two epidural injections in the last two months with low relief. Dr. says she is too old for surgery. It is really miserable and has great difficulty walking. Any suggestions for treatment?
its use have a bag of ice. ice is better than the heat of sciatica because it is an inflammation of the nerve and heat just make it more inflamed. ice will calm the inflammation and a little numb.
I try Tylenol (no it's not as strong as an opiate, but it's better than nothing).
Perhaps a TENS unit may be prescribed by his doctor to decrease the pain as well.
success
Sitting on a chair right [not slouching] ordinary painkillers and what about heat or cold ..... it varies with different people ... With me, it's the heat that helps ..... A hot water bottle or heatpad in my back. I'm only only 61???? LOL but compared to your age mothers who are young .... Try to make him walk a bit ..... more it is the worst it will get ..... but do not walk much. T she use a framework or something like that
I'm 33 and I sacriliac joint dysfunction. A year ago in February I had a fixation bilatiral, pariformis release on the right hip and a bone fusion done in my spine. Yes, I am 100% better. I also can not take pain medication due to nausea. Because of your age, I will contact mothers DR. Lippitt, Atlanta, GA. It is the Guroo for this condition. It is retireing soon but has a DR> AMERALL work with him. They do a procedure called a nerve block and it really helps! Your mother is active? I found that walking can cause my bag to flame, but do not move at all, it's worse. Losing weight can help too. If you like communicating with me back and I can not answer questions for you.
