Stroke Memory Loss

Stroke Memory LossWhy my grandmother with serious memory loss short term when a stroke has been ruled out?

After being in hospital because of a reaction to a diuretic (hyponatremia and hypokalemia), which has been resolved and grandmother had returned to previous levels (lived completely independent, no signs of dementia), two days Later, she displayed severe loss of short-term memory. Persevere on the same 4-5 questions to ask the same question or make the same statement every 1-2 minutes. An MRI ruled out a stroke, other explanations? She is on drugs very little.

You should probably mention this to the doctor. Make sure that the original problems have been effectively addressed. Hyponatremia could cause neurological symptoms and I'm not sure that everyone immediately resolve. Maybe it will take time. But it should be monitored carefully.

They can be removed at once, but what about a transient ischemic attack or TIA.
The same thing happened to my mother. One night she and I were sitting in the LR and, suddenly, she said she had to have a BM, and probably wouldnt go to the BR. It didn't. I went to bed, and when I woke up the next morning she was still sitting on the dresser. She fell asleep, and said he was the best sleep she had long ago.
