Synopsis Of PsychiatryAlternatives in Mental Health

Some people believe that our brain becomes inactive when we sleep. If this were the case we should not have any dreams. Dreams are evidence that our mind remains active, even when we are asleep. This simply means that our mind is active 24 hours a day without any rest at all. Imagine how our bodies behave if we were to spend 24 hours of physical activity.

Although research may show that 30% of mental illness can occur without a trigger stress, it also shows that the majority - 70% - mental illnesses occur with stress. The search may not be able to watch the other 30%, the mentally ill who can not be "grateful" to stress one point. This gives us a pessimistic view of mental illness. We believe that we can not do anything about them. It also tells us that mental illnesses occur because of our genes, our upbringing, our personality, our temperament, our lifestyle and we can not do anything about them. Stress or no stress, we are told, if we have all these factors responsible in our personal history, we are inclined to have a mental illness. Some psychiatrists adhere to this belief strongly. This belief is then placed between authority as the Gospel truth 'of science. Naturally, this brings a feeling of low self-esteem and powerlessness in the person suffering from the disease. We are then led to believe that drugs are of 'human responses to mental illness, which is a curse of nature.

Prayer, which was until recently regarded as unscientific, has now been shown to have beneficial effects on patients.1 Similarly, the current belief of psychiatry is that mental illness can be treated by medical professionals and the only person who is mentally ill has no control over their lives. The health system operates in a manner in which the doctors themselves have little choice other than prescription drugs. The patient has no choice worthy of mention. From a legal standpoint, a person who is mentally ill is considered not able to take full responsibility for their actions. This is one of the most unfortunate of mental illness. People who suffer from mental disorders also have a sense of responsibility in many areas of their lives.

The role of emotions in mental illness has been totally ignored by scientists. Yet, research shows that separation of mother, two losses3 - including deaths, 4 traumatic events, especially when they occur during the last three months5 can trigger mental illness. What has been examined is the history of these events in a person's life. What is ignored is the emotional chaos it causes in a person's body and mind. Emotional expression enhances the effects of repetitive trauma.6 changes in the body are simply not forgotten. Release emotions by expressing emotions, explains the role of counseling and confession. We tend to believe, wrongly, that everything is solved with time. Things did settle with time - but not all. These are the issues and their emotional effect, causing mental and psychosomatic illnesses. It is obvious that whenever we suffer any emotional experience, our nervous and hormonal systems are shaken-up. The nervous system and hormones as well as monitoring the activities of different parts of the body. If the expression neurohormonal is allowed to pass through the end, a quiet physiologically occurs in the body. This has a scientific basis.7

For those who regularly attend church, a common experience is the sense of calm at the entrance of a church. Coupled with music, incense and sermons spoken in a low and gentle voice, a sense of calm on the person lives. There is scientific evidence to suggest that going to church helps a person stay healthy.8 More interesting is the fact that there is little research to say that music or aromatherapy to help bring mental health. But sh experience.
