What happens after you have surgery for transposition of the ulnar nerve? I have ulnar nerve transposition surgery and I was wondering if anyone knew what the treatment will be for after surgery
I had this surgery in April. I had immediate relief after the operation, but the pain at the site of surgery persisted for some time. It is very important not to bend the elbow after surgery. It is also important not to rush into making full use of arms you have had surgery on. I was worried about my cardio routine and I started rowing about four weeks after surgery. I am now waiting for surgery again places the nerve in the muscle this time it will be safer. I'll have a splint for six weeks, full this time to be sure! This looks like a long time, but it will be better than suffering if the nerve would fall again. You should also keep the surgical site dry splint. To be able to take a shower, I found using a garbage bag or dry cleaning bag works well with large rubber bands to hold it.
Please everyone, learn from my mistakes. Take your time and easy on rehabilitation. Do not use your arms until your doctor agrees, and by all means do not lift anything heavy or do repetitive type work until approved by the doctor and physical therapist, including web browsing.
Sleep is a chore because it is difficult to become familiar with a large brace to take the road, but the end result is worth it when you are able to function without pain or numbness.
